Getting started
How does the process work?
You complete a short online assessment, a licensed doctor reviews it, and if you’re approved your ESA or service animal letter is emailed to you within 24 hours.
Are the letters written by real medical professionals?
Yes. Letters are issued after a professional review and are based on a licensed healthcare provider’s clinical opinion.
Do you serve my state?
Yes. Dogtor’s Note is available to people in all 50 states. Everything is done online, so there’s no office visit.
What’s the difference between an ESA letter and a service animal letter?
An ESA letter is for people whose pet provides comfort and emotional support, and it’s most often used for housing requests. A service animal letter is for people whose dog is trained to do specific tasks that help with a disability.
Do I need to upload medical records?
No. You simply answer the questions in the online assessment. No paperwork uploads or office visits are required.
After you apply
How long does it take to receive my letter?
After you pay, our doctor reviews your assessment and you’ll hear back with a decision within 24 hours, usually within a few hours. Approved letters arrive by email as a PDF.
What if I’m not approved?
If you’re not approved after review, you receive a full money-back refund. No hassle, no hidden conditions.
What happens after I sign up?
Right after checkout you get a confirmation email. Our doctor then reviews your answers. If you’re approved, your letter arrives by email (usually within a few hours, always within 24) along with your personal verification code. If you’re not approved, you get a full refund.
Can my landlord confirm my letter is real?
Yes. Every letter has its own verification code and QR code. Your landlord can scan the QR code or enter the code at dogtorsnote.com/verify to see, in real time, that your letter is active, who it was issued to, and which animal it covers. Medical details are never shown.
Will my letter be accepted by landlords or housing providers?
ESA and service animal letters are commonly used for housing accommodations. Acceptance is decided by third parties under the laws that apply to them, and we can’t guarantee acceptance in every situation.
Pricing and renewal
How much does it cost?
ESA letters are $199 per year and service animal letters are $399 per year. Watch for flash sales on our homepage.
Is this a one-time fee or yearly?
Your letter is a yearly membership so your documentation stays current. It renews automatically each year, and we email you an updated letter with new dates. Your verification code stays the same, so there’s nothing new to send your landlord.
Can I use this for more than one pet?
Each letter covers one animal. For more than one animal, complete a separate assessment for each.
Is my information private and secure?
Yes. We only collect what’s needed to complete your assessment and deliver your letter, and we keep it private.
Where can I download my letter again?
Any time from your account. Log in, open My Letter, and download your PDF or copy the verification link to send to your landlord.
What happens if I cancel my membership?
Your letter and verification code stay active until the end of the year you already paid for. After that, the code shows as not active until you renew.
Can I make changes to my letter?
Letters are locked PDFs so they can’t be edited after they’re issued. If something is wrong, like your animal’s name, just email us and we’ll send a corrected letter.
What will the charge look like on my card statement?
Your card statement will show FLMMD Tech Solutions LLC, the company that runs Dogtor’s Note. Yearly renewals show the same name.
